By default, NoScript blocks the execution of JavaScript scripts and applets on all websites. However, users can specify which websites should be exempted from this blocking (permanently or temporarily until the browser session ends). If a website also contains scripts and objects from remote sources, it is possible to separately manage the blocking rules for each of these elements. There are options available to regulate the acceptance of scripts and applets on a selected website (based on domain, URL, or parent domain). In addition to being able to disable NoScript blocking at any time (for a specific website or globally), users can also choose a different default mode where the execution of most scripts and applets is allowed on all websites until the user activates the blocking for a specific website. Websites where we want to freely use scripts and applets can also be added to a trusted list. Additionally, there is an untrusted list that offers additional blocking options. It is worth mentioning that the extension has a feature to quickly revoke all temporary permissions for executing scripts and running applets on selected websites.

In addition to the capabilities related to blocking the execution of scripts and applets, NoScript also includes features that protect against XSS, CSRF, clickjacking, man-in-the-middle, DNS rebinding attacks, as well as enforce the use of HTTPS protocol for connections to websites. The Application Boundaries Enforcer (ABE) module deserves attention as it strengthens the security of various web applications to prevent the extraction of sensitive data from them. Another functionality of the add-on is the ability to run user scripts that modify the behavior of a website (similar to the GreaseMonkey add-on). It is also worth mentioning the feature responsible for analyzing the security level and privacy protection of a given website. The extension can work seamlessly with other add-ons such as Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, FlashBlock, or GreaseMonkey.
